Privacy, made clear.
Browser-storage preferences and following articles are separate decisions. Essential functions remain available when optional services are rejected.
- Sign-in and favorites
- Firebase keeps sign-in state in IndexedDB (firebaseLocalStorageDb); local or session storage may be used as a fallback. Favorites are stored privately in Firestore. Rejecting optional services does not erase these records or sign you out.
- Privacy preferences
- bitameans.privacy stores only your choices, policy version and dates in this browser’s local storage for up to 180 days. It contains no email address or tracking identifier.
- SDK operations
- Firebase also creates firebase-heartbeat-database for technical SDK information and dates. This is not Google Analytics. Optional automatic data collection is disabled; this operational storage remains part of the installed SDK.
- Pages, images and security
- Vercel delivers the site and Firebase Storage delivers images. Requests transmit ordinary connection data, such as your IP address. Hosting and security may generate server logs; these preferences do not turn off service delivery or security measures.
- Optional analytics and advertising
- If you accept analytics, Google Analytics receives public page visits and technical browser data. It uses cookies prefixed with bitameans_ga for up to 180 days. We exclude the planner, accounts, favorites, payments, previews and comparisons; we do not send email addresses, account IDs, health inputs, URL query parameters or fragments. Google receives connection data such as your IP address. Withdraw permission in Cookie preferences to stop measurement and delete this browser's analytics cookies. Previously sent data is not automatically deleted. Advertising stays disabled.
- Articles by email
- No newsletter provider is connected and we do not collect subscription addresses. A future email subscription will require a separate choice, email verification and an unsubscribe link. Cookie preferences and your account do not subscribe you.
Following articles or allowing cookies does not guarantee Google Discover or SmartNews placement. Web push permission is not requested.
